Ipe wood is extraordinary. It is ideal for outdoor applications because it will not rot and termites don't touch it. But left unfinished, Ipe wood loses its beautiful, rich, brown look and weathers to a gray color just like any wood exposed to the elements... unless it is sealed. But what to seal it with? Something cheap that has to be re-applied every 6-12 months? (Yuck) Something expensive that is hard to apply and STILL needs to be re-applied every two years?
