This standard size (Hartmann 38' x 10') open front porch can be customized in several ways. For example, the 10' dimension can easily be shortened to 9', 8', 7' or even 6' without aesthetic injury... and (more importantly) without weakening the structural integrity of the floor or roof. Now if want to bump it out further from the house, we need to talk first. You might be in danger of over spanning your floor joists or roof rafters. Also, the 38' dimension can be shortened to fit your house without problem. But if you want to lengthen the 38' dimension, you could run into a problem by over spanning the beam between the posts, so be sure to add additional posts under the beam to avoid exceeding the spans on our Plans. |

| And, as always, please be sure to submit your building plans to your local Plan Review. They will help you prevent problems. For example, our roofs are designed to sustain loading of 40 psf (pounds per square foot). But you may live in a snow belt where your Plan Review will want you to increase the pitch of the roof and beef up the rafters, subroofing and headers. I'm making good sense and you know it so don't be stubborn... just do it. (You'll sleep better knowing you did the right thing.) |

And don't forget: All of the accessories (like turned posts and spindles and different floor decking designs) are included on the Building Plans so you can customize the look of your new porch until it's just perfect for your house. |
| Incidentally, I know you're probably wondering how much the Building Plans are for this design... so I'll tell you this much: A lot less than an architect would charge! |
